Dedicated to the memory of Jan (Mum/Nanna)

This site is a tribute to Jan. She is much loved and will always be remembered.

Wife to Mick, Mum to Lisa, Becky and Jess (Tom and Andy). Sister to Brian, Mike, Carole and Colin. Much loved Nanna to Sophie and Millie, Grace and George and totally adored by Buddy! A dear Friend to so many. Passed away peacefully at dawn on Monday 13th July 2020, at home surrounded by her family who she loved dearly.

Diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in February 2018, she bravely lived with the aggressive disease and refused to let it stop her from doing all the things she loved to do (mainly walking and eating lots of cake, looking back at her photos!!) with her family and friends who meant so much to her.

Three lots of gruelling chemotherapy enabled her to see Jess and Andy get married at Instow in September last year and she was able to enjoy holidays to Devon (her favourite place), Cornwall, the Cotswolds and just before lockdown a trip to Centre Parcs, making many special memories along the way.

In the weeks before she died she often said she 'felt like she had won the lottery with all her family and friends'. A reflection of how much she thought of them - and how much they all loved her.

She was kind, caring, dignified and so brave, and always thinking of others, right up until the end when she fell asleep peacefully and didn't have to suffer any more.

With Mum/Jan it was all about the living. In her final weeks we had support from the Specialist Palliative Care Team from the Rowans Hospice who helped control Mum's pain. In her last few days we had amazing support from their Hospice at Home Team who, along with the District Nurses, helped us look after Mum (and all of us as well!) at home - where she really wanted to be.

In place of floral tributes we would like to invite people to donate to the Rowans Hospice who only receive 17% of their funding from the NHS. Their help and support was invaluable and so dignified at a time when we needed it the most.

Due to current Covid restrictions a private Service will be held in Milford, Surrey - the place Mum called 'home' and where she can be laid to rest close to her Mum -  our Nanna.

She touched so many lives; not least through her work as a Classroom Assistant, Nursery Nurse and Family Support Worker. We all love and miss her very much.

Please feel free to add any photos or memories of happy times together on this page.....
